[08-12-2024] Santa Clara County, CA – Pedestrian Killed After Collision Involving Two Vehicles on Highway 101 in Sunnyvale

A pedestrian was killed after a collision involving two vehicles on Highway 101 in Sunnyvale on Monday evening, August 12, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at around 10:20 p.m. near State Route 237.

At least two vehicles were involved in the incident, which resulted in the pedestrian’s death. A Chevrolet Malibu was found overturned on its roof, and a Toyota Camry sustained moderate front-end damage. However, it remains unclear which of the two vehicles struck the pedestrian.

The collision shut down all northbound lanes of Highway 101 at Mathilda Avenue and all southbound lanes on Highway 101 at SR-237. CHP officers worked diligently, and all lanes were reopened by 1:50 a.m.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the precise circumstances surrounding the accident. Anyone with information is urged to contact the authorities.
