[08-12-2024] Ventura County, CA – Pedestrian Fatally Struck by SUV on Highway 126 Near Piru

A male pedestrian was killed after being struck by an SUV on Highway 126 east of Piru, Ventura County late Monday night, August 12, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred shortly before 11:00 p.m. on the eastbound lanes of the highway. The pedestrian was hit by a 2022 Jeep Wagoneer driven by a 54-year-old woman from Fillmore.

CHP reports indicated that the woman was driving eastbound in the left lane when she struck the pedestrian. Following the collision, the pedestrian was thrown into the right lane, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, remained at the scene and fully cooperated with the authorities. She was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs and did not sustain any injuries.

The pedestrian’s identity, including his age and place of residence, has not yet been released. Anyone with information about the accident is encouraged to contact the CHP’s Moorpark-area office at 805-553-0800.
