[08-19-2024] Two People Injured After Broadside Collision on Pony Express TrailTwo people were injured after a broadside collision on Pony Express Trail in Pollock Pines, El Dorado County, on Monday afternoon, August 19, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 2:32 p.m. just east of Piazza Court. 

A Dodge truck collided with the side of a Chevy SUV driven by an 87-year-old woman, identified as Sandra W., a resident of Pollock Pines.

First responders from the El Dorado County Fire Protection District and Cal Fire Amador-El Dorado Unit extracted the woman from her vehicle. She was airlifted to Sutter Roseville with serious injuries.

The driver of the Dodge, 35-year-old Joshua R., also a Pollock Pines resident, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Marshall Hospital by ground ambulance.

Preliminary reports suggest that the woman may have been backing out of a driveway onto Pony Express Trail when the eastbound Dodge truck collided with her vehicle. The crash remains under investigation.
