[08-21-2026] Contra Costa County, CA – Woman Critically Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash in Antioch

A woman was critically injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Antioch on Friday night, August 21, 2026.

According to the Antioch Police Department, the collision occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Hillcrest Avenue near Larkspur Drive.

Police said preliminary findings indicate that a vehicle had exited the freeway and was traveling eastbound when the driver allegedly ran a red light. A woman, believed to be about 24 years old, was walking southbound within the crosswalk when the vehicle struck her.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene, and the woman was hospitalized in critical condition.

Authorities said the driver fled the scene following the collision. Police were working to identify the driver, and no suspect information was immediately available.

The Antioch Police Department continues to investigate the hit-and-run crash.
