According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the incident occurred around 4:41 a.m. on the 5500 block of Knudsen Drive.

Authorities stated that multiple people were fighting in the roadway when the woman stopped her car and exited to intervene.

While trying to stop the altercation, the woman was struck by a passing vehicle. The driver of the vehicle left the scene but later contacted the police to report her involvement.

The victim was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
