[08-25-2024] Driver Killed, Another Injured After Suspected DUI Head-On Crash on I-8 in El CajonA driver was killed, and another was injured after a suspected DUI head-on collision in El Cajon on early Sunday morning, August 25, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at around 12:47 a.m. on westbound Interstate 8 at State Route 125.

Authorities stated that a 49-year-old woman was driving a Kia K5 at high speed in the #2 lane when she collided head-on with a Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 34-year-old man from El Cajon. 

The driver of the Kia was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the Silverado sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Authorities suspect that the woman may have been under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing. There is no additional information immediately available.
