[08-25-2026] Sacramento County, CA – One Killed, Another Severely Injured in Fiery Crash Near El Camino Ave. and Verna Way

One person was killed, and another suffered severe injuries after a vehicle crashed into a power pole and caught fire in Sacramento County on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

According to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, emergency crews responded to the crash near El Camino Avenue and Verna Way.

Upon arrival, firefighters found that a vehicle had struck a power pole and was on fire. Crews extinguished the flames and provided medical aid to the occupants.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Another person sustained severe injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment. Authorities did not immediately release the identities of those involved.

Drivers were advised to avoid the area while emergency personnel worked at the scene.

The CHP continues to investigate the crash.
