A woman was killed and another woman suffered major injuries in a collision involving a semi-truck in the Abbott area in Sutter County on Tuesday morning, August 26, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at around 11:39 a.m. at the intersection of South George Washington Boulevard and Obanion Road.
Authorities said a Toyota Camry failed to stop at a stop sign on Obanion Road and entered the intersection, where it was struck on the driver’s side by a semi-truck traveling approximately 55 mph. The impact pushed the Toyota into an orchard on the southeast corner of the intersection.
The driver of the Camry, a 31-year-old woman from Sacramento, was killed at the scene. The passenger, another woman from Sacramento, sustained major injuries and was transported to a local hospital before being airlifted for advanced care.
The semi-truck driver was uninjured and is cooperating with investigators. CHP confirmed that drugs and alcohol are not believed to have been factors in the crash.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
