A big rig driver was killed after the semi-truck left Interstate 80 and crashed into a fence in Truckee, Nevada County, on Wednesday morning, August 26, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol’s Truckee office, the crash occurred around 9:20 a.m. on eastbound I-80 near the junction with southbound State Route 89, east of Donner Lake.
CHP said the semi-truck was traveling eastbound when it went off the roadway and struck a fence.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the cab sustained minor injuries. Authorities did not immediately release the identity of the driver.
The CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal crash.
