Two sisters, 21-year-old Kaymen D. and 15-year-old Kayelynn “Alex” R. died in a car accident on Highway 395 just south of Lone Pine in Inyo County, on Monday, September 2, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when a tire on the SUV they were riding in failed, causing the vehicle to roll over.
The sisters were returning from a family trip to Bridgeport when the crash occurred. Two other passengers in the vehicle were injured but survived.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
