[09-02-2026] San Diego County, CA – Two Seriously Injured in Rollover Crash at Fiesta Island

Two people suffered serious injuries after a pickup truck rolled over on the sand at Fiesta Island in San Diego on Wednesday night, September 2, 2026.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. near the 1400 block of Fiesta Island Road in Mission Bay Park.

Police said a 38-year-old man was driving a 2001 Ford Ranger on the sand between the water and the roadway with two adult female passengers. According to investigators, the driver was accelerating and swerving when the truck lost traction and rolled over.

All three occupants were transported to a local hospital. Police said the driver suffered a brain bleed and multiple spinal fractures. A 21-year-old female passenger sustained a fractured scapula and multiple spinal fractures.

The second passenger, a 23-year-old woman, did not suffer serious injuries.

Police said DUI was not a factor in the collision. The San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division continues to investigate the crash.
