Approximately 150 gallons of diesel spilled on northbound Interstate 880 in Oakland following a crash between a gray Honda Accord and a big rig on Wednesday afternoon, September 10, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 1:30 p.m. at the on-ramp to Fruitvale. The Honda driver sustained minor injuries but did not require hospital transport. The big rig, which was carrying the diesel, was involved in the crash, resulting in approximately 75 gallons spilling on the roadway and 75 gallons spilling into a storm drain.
Caltrans reported that the northbound I-880 offramp at Fruitvale will remain closed until 12:01 a.m. for cleanup.
Authorities have not yet provided details on whether the big rig driver was injured.
