A 66-year-old man from Tracy was killed in a two-vehicle collision in Altamont, Alameda County, on Sunday morning, September 21, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 4:45 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 580 west of Grant Line Road.
A white Honda Accord driven by a 21-year-old Stockton man collided with the rear of a black Tesla Model Y driven by the 66-year-old. The Tesla driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the Accord sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Valley Medical Center for evaluation.
CHP stated that alcohol and/or drugs may have been a factor in the crash. The Accord driver was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
Authorities continue to investigate the collision.
