[09-21-2026] Santa Clara County, CA – 63-Year-Old Woman Killed After Highway 101 Crash in San Jose

A 63-year-old woman was killed following a series of collisions on U.S. Highway 101 in San Jose late Monday night, September 21, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at around 11:30 p.m. on northbound Highway 101, south of Oakland Road.

CHP said the woman was driving a Nissan Juke when she allegedly rear-ended a Toyota Prius. She then exited her vehicle and was standing between the two disabled vehicles on the highway.

Authorities said another vehicle subsequently struck the Nissan, pinning the woman between her vehicle and the Prius.

The woman was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her identity was not immediately released.

CHP said drugs and alcohol did not appear to be factors in the crash.

The collision remains under investigation.
