A 63-year-old man was killed after riding through a stop sign on his electric bicycle and being struck by an SUV before colliding with a car in East Oakland on Friday night, September 26, 2025.
According to police, the incident occurred around 6:20 p.m. as Hector O., identified by the coroner’s bureau, was riding southbound on Miller Avenue. He failed to stop at a stop sign at East 16th Street and was struck by a Ford SUV traveling eastbound before colliding with a Honda sedan traveling westbound on East 16th Street. Hector was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The drivers of both the Ford and Honda remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Authorities are still trying to determine if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
