[09-26-2026] Riverside County, CA – Bicyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in Homeland

A 45-year-old bicyclist identified as Juan H. of Homeland was killed in a hit-and-run collision in Homeland, Riverside County, on Saturday evening, September 26, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly before 8:00 p.m. at the intersection of Leon Road and Queen Palm Drive.

CHP said the victim was riding his bicycle on Leon Road when the driver of a gray Mazda 3 struck him at an unconfirmed speed and continued driving.

The bicyclist was transported to Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley, where he died from his injuries approximately four hours later.

Investigators said the Mazda sustained visible damage to the passenger-side front windshield. Officers later found the vehicle abandoned in a dirt alley approximately 1.5 miles from the crash scene and impounded it as evidence.

Authorities were still working Monday to identify the driver involved in the collision. The investigation remains ongoing.
