A driver was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run after striking an 82-year-old pedestrian in a crosswalk in Sonoma on Sunday afternoon, October 20, 2024.
According to police, José T., 33, was driving around 1:00 p.m. on West Napa Street when he turned onto Fifth Street West without slowing or stopping, hitting the pedestrian, identified as Karen S., a local resident.
Witnesses at the scene provided medical aid and statements to law enforcement. The victim was taken to Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa, where she remained in intensive care until Tuesday, when her condition began to improve.
Surveillance footage helped police identify the vehicle as a four-door Honda Accord, which was located around 8 p.m. on the same day. The driver was subsequently arrested and booked into the Sonoma County jail.
