[11-01-2025] Woman Arrested for DUI After Fatal Crash on I-215 in MurrietaA woman was arrested for DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter after causing a crash on Interstate 215 in Murrieta that left one passenger dead and three others injured on Saturday morning, November 1, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, 28-year-old Andrea V. of Los Angeles was driving a 2022 Toyota Prius southbound on I-215 at around 1:30 a.m. when she inexplicably steered the vehicle onto the right shoulder and continued traveling on the shoulder.

The Toyota then crashed into a tree at a high rate of speed, west of the freeway traffic lanes. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Murrieta Fire & Rescue personnel arrived at the scene within minutes and pronounced 30-year-old Joya B. of Riverside dead at the scene. Three other passengers, including a 25-year-old Los Angeles woman, a 28-year-old Los Angeles woman, and a 28-year-old San Diego man, sustained major injuries and were taken to a regional trauma center. They remained in serious condition on Monday.

Andrea was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter from intoxication, felony DUI, and DUI resulting in injuries. She was briefly hospitalized for minor injuries before being booked into the Byrd Detention Center. Andrea posted a $60,000 bond and was released the same day.

The investigation is ongoing.
