A man was critically injured in a suspected DUI crash involving two vehicles in northwest Bakersfield on Sunday morning, November 2, 2025.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, officers responded around 7:03 a.m. to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Hageman Road and Fruitvale Avenue. They found a Mazda Miata and a Mitsubishi Outlander that had crashed in the intersection.
The driver of the Miata sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. The driver of the Outlander, a woman, and a juvenile passenger also suffered minor injuries and were transported to a hospital. Another passenger in the Outlander, a man, sustained major injuries and remains in critical condition, according to police.
A preliminary investigation determined that the Outlander was traveling eastbound on Hageman Road and had stopped at a red light. When the light turned green, the driver entered the intersection as the Miata, traveling southbound on Fruitvale Avenue, entered the same area.
Officers said speed and intoxication are believed to be factors in the collision. The intersection of Hageman Road and Fruitvale Avenue was closed in all directions while investigators processed the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You
Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
