A man and his dog were killed after a hit-and-run crash in Live Oak, Santa Cruz County, early Wednesday morning, November 13, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, at around 2:46 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Seventh Avenue and Eddy Lane.
Authorities stated that an unknown vehicle was traveling south on Seventh Avenue when it struck a man in his 30s and his dog. The vehicle then fled the scene.
Both the pedestrian and the dog sustained major injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and it remains unclear if alcohol or drugs were involved.
