A man has died after being hit by a car in Madera on early Monday morning, November 18, 2024.
Police responded to a call at approximately 6:30 a.m. reporting a man down in the road with debris scattered nearby on Cleveland Avenue near Highway 99.
Upon arrival, officers found an unhoused man with a shopping cart who had been struck by a vehicle. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The identity of the man has not been released. Investigators say he was walking in a lane of traffic when he was struck from behind by a teenage boy driver, who remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities.
The Madera Police Department is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
