One person was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway in Costa Mesa late Tuesday night, November 19, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported around 11:40 p.m. near Harbor Boulevard. At this time, the identity of the fatally injured person has not been released.
All southbound lanes of the 405 Freeway were closed for several hours while the crash investigation took place. By daybreak, one lane was reopened, but traffic remained heavily backed up into the morning commute.
The CHP is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
