Two people were critically injured after a head-on collision on Highway 88 on the outskirts of Stockton in San Joaquin County on Sunday evening, November 23, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Tony N., owner of Stockton 99 Speedway, and his wife, Rowena, were driving along Highway 88 in dense fog when a vehicle attempting to pass another car collided with them head-on.
CHP said all individuals involved were transported to the hospital in critical condition. The crash prompted widespread concern in the Stockton community as news of the couple’s injuries spread.
Community members and local leaders described the family’s longstanding involvement in Stockton events and activities, noting their roles in bringing back the Asparagus Festival, hosting the Garlic Festival, and supporting the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds.
Family members provided updates on social media, and officials said Rowena was alert, while Tony was scheduled for another surgery on Tuesday.
The investigation is ongoing.
