A man was killed after being struck by two vehicles on Union Avenue and Brundage Lane in Bakersfield on Monday night, December 9, 2024.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the crash occurred just before 9:30 p.m. when the man, walking outside of a crosswalk, was first hit by a southbound Toyota sedan.
The Toyota fled the scene immediately after the collision. Moments later, the pedestrian was struck by a Ram pickup truck.
The driver of the Ram initially left the scene but later returned and cooperated with the investigation. Officers confirmed the driver of the pickup was not under the influence.
Police later located the Toyota sedan driver at his residence in southeast Bakersfield. He was arrested for DUI and hit-and-run.
The identity of the pedestrian will be released by authorities at a later time.
The investigation is ongoing.
