A woman in her 30s was killed in a head-on collision on Highway 49 near Ben Hur Road in Mariposa County on Saturday afternoon, December 14, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly after 3:00 p.m. when the woman, traveling northbound, veered into oncoming traffic for unknown reasons and collided with a Jeep heading southbound.
The woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Several passengers in both vehicles were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of varying injuries.
Authorities are investigating the incident to determine if drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash.
