[12-19-2024] San Diego County, CA – Woman Injured After Two-Vehicle Collision on E Plaza Boulevard in National City

A woman suffered a serious leg fracture after a two-vehicle collision on E Plaza Boulevard in National City on Thursday afternoon, December 19, 2024.

The crash occurred at approximately 12:14 p.m. in the 200-400 block of E Plaza Boulevard, prompting the closure of both westbound and eastbound lanes for several hours as authorities conducted an investigation, according to the National City Police Department.

Lt. Vince Fernando reported that the collision involved a Honda Civic traveling northbound on C Avenue and a truck traveling eastbound on E Plaza Boulevard. The truck struck the Honda Civic as it crossed the intersection.

The driver of the Honda Civic, a woman, had to be extricated from the vehicle by emergency responders. She was transported to a local hospital and treated for a serious fracture to her left leg. Her current condition remains unknown.

The truck driver remained at the scene and was uninjured.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
