An 83-year-old man, identified as Ernesto S. of Hayward, was fatally struck in a hit-and-run collision at the intersection of Miami Avenue and Coronado Street in Hayward on Monday morning, December 23, 2024.
According to the Hayward Police Department, officers responded to a report of a man down in the roadway at approximately 6:00 a.m. They found the pedestrian suffering from injuries consistent with being hit by a vehicle.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Authorities believe the driver responsible fled the scene before a passerby discovered the victim.
