An elderly woman was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle in a crosswalk at Walnut and Cedar streets in North Berkeley on Monday evening, December 29, 2025.
According to police, the crash occurred just before 5:15 p.m. as the woman was walking in the crosswalk on the west side of the intersection.
Authorities said a northbound driver, a man in his 30s, struck the pedestrian while making a left turn onto Cedar Street from Walnut Street.
The 95-year-old woman was initially knocked unconscious but regained consciousness before being transported by Berkeley Fire to Highland Hospital for treatment.
Police said the woman was listed in critical but stable condition. The driver remained at the scene, and impairment did not appear to be a factor.
The investigation is ongoing.
