[01-12-2026] Riverside County, CA – Bicyclist Hospitalized with Major Injuries After Collision on Country Club Drive Near Indio

A bicyclist was hospitalized with major injuries after being struck by a vehicle near Indio on Monday morning, January 12, 2026.

The collision was reported shortly before 10:00 a.m. on Country Club Drive, according to California Highway Patrol Officer David Torres. 

Authorities said a Dodge Charger, traveling eastbound on Country Club Drive in the No. 2 lane, struck the rear of the bicycle east of Adams Street.

The bicyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected and landed on the pavement. The victim, identified only as a male, was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs for treatment of his injuries.

Drugs and/or alcohol are not suspected to be a factor in the crash, according to Torres.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
