One person was killed and others were injured following a single-vehicle crash near the intersection of Gonzales River Road and River Road in Monterey County on Monday evening, January 19, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported around 5:31 p.m. when a vehicle carrying two adults and an infant went off the roadway, struck a pole, and rolled over.
Authorities said one adult sustained minor injuries, while the adult driver suffered more serious injuries, though the severity was not specified. CHP reported that the infant was not injured.
CHP said one of the occupants died as a result of the crash but did not specify which individual. All three occupants were transported to Natividad Medical Center.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
