[01-20-2026] San Mateo County, CA – One Killed in Crash Between Rooter Hero Van and Sedan on Highway 92

All westbound lanes of the San Mateo Bridge were reopened just before 8:00 p.m. following a deadly crash involving two vehicles on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just before 3:00 p.m. on Highway 92 when a Rooter Hero van collided with a sedan. 

The passenger in the van was transported to Stanford Hospital, though the extent of their injuries is unknown. The van driver was unharmed. The driver of the sedan, however, was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity has not been released by the coroner.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
