[01-27-2026] Riverside County, CA – Two Injured, Driver Arrested After Suspected DUI Head-On Crash in Indio

Two people were injured and one driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a head-on crash in Indio early Tuesday morning, January 27, 2026.

According to the Indio Police Department, officers were called just after 5:00 a.m. to the intersection of Calhoun Street and Avenue 48. 

Authorities said a 28-year-old man driving a Lexus was suspected of driving under the influence and was arrested at the scene. He was later booked into the John Benoit Detention Center on DUI charges.

Police reported that a 25-year-old female passenger in the Lexus and the driver of the other vehicle, a 30-year-old man driving a Toyota, were injured in the collision. 

Both were transported by ambulance to Desert Regional Medical Center. The male driver was reported to be in stable condition, while the female passenger was listed in critical condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
