[01-31-2026] Tulare County, CA – Multiple Injured After 59-Vehicle Pileup on Highway 99 Near Ave. 24

Multiple people were injured after a large multi-vehicle pileup involving dozens of vehicles occurred on Highway 99 in Tulare County on Saturday morning, January 31, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers were dispatched to Highway 99 near Avenue 24 after reports of vehicles piling up on both the northbound and southbound sides of the highway. 

Upon arrival, CHP determined that approximately 59 vehicles were involved, including tractor-trailers, sedans, and pickup trucks.

Authorities reported that at least 10 people were transported to a nearby hospital with injuries described as minor to moderate. No fatalities were reported at the time of the incident.

Caltrans responded to assist with clearing the roadway and reported that Highway 99 was expected to reopen between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. CHP indicated that dense fog was present in the area, with visibility reported to be between 100 and 200 feet at the time of the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
