At least one person was injured following a head-on collision on East Mission Road in San Diego County early Tuesday morning, February 3, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported shortly after 5:00 a.m. near the intersection of East Mission Road and Valentine Lane.
Officers said a Honda sedan and a Toyota RAV4 were involved in the collision that left the vehicles blocking traffic.
Fire crews responded to the scene and requested additional resources as East Mission Road was fully shut down in both directions to allow emergency operations. CHP logs indicated that callers reported hearing a loud crash and believed one vehicle may have gone off the roadway following the impact.
Authorities reported that at least one person was transported to Palomar Medical Center with injuries. It was unclear whether a second individual was also taken to a hospital. No further details regarding the extent of the injuries were immediately available.
By mid-morning, multiple CHP units remained on scene as crews worked to clear the wreckage and investigate the cause of the crash. East Mission Road was expected to remain closed for several hours, and drivers were urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
The collision remains under investigation.
