A woman was hospitalized with major injuries after being struck in a hit-and-run crash in Modesto early Sunday morning, February 1, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at around 2:28 a.m. on Bystrum Road just south of Pecos Avenue.
Investigators said the suspect vehicle was traveling northbound when it struck the woman and fled the scene.
Officers located a 34-year-old woman lying on the shoulder of the road with major injuries. She was transported to a hospital for treatment.
CHP said evidence at the scene identified the suspect vehicle as a possible 2007 to 2014 Lincoln Navigator. Authorities noted the vehicle would likely have damage to the right-front headlight, headlight assembly, and/or grille.
The CHP continues to investigate the hit-and-run.
