One person was killed, and another suffered major injuries in a hit-and-run crash near Poway in San Diego County on Saturday night, February 14, 2026.
The collision occurred at around 11:25 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 67 and Scripps Poway Parkway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities said a 33-year-old man was driving a Honda Civic northbound on SR-67 and entered the intersection to make a left turn onto Scripps Poway Parkway westbound. At the same time, a Chevrolet Tahoe traveling southbound on SR-67 entered the intersection, and the vehicles collided.
Medical personnel pronounced one passenger dead at the scene. Another passenger sustained major injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Officials stated that the driver of the Honda Civic was evaluated and was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The Chevrolet Tahoe allegedly fled the scene following the crash. Authorities confirmed that one person has been arrested and is in custody.
The investigation remains ongoing.
