A 24-year-old man riding an e-bike was seriously injured after being struck by an SUV in the University City neighborhood of San Diego on Wednesday afternoon, February 25, 2026.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the crash occurred shortly before 1 p.m. at the intersection of La Jolla Village Drive and Genesee Avenue.
The driver of a 2025 Mercedes GLC, a 60-year-old man, was traveling westbound in the right lane when the e-bike rider attempted to turn left onto northbound Genesee Avenue.
Investigators say the driver proceeded through a green light without checking for oncoming traffic, colliding with the e-biker.
The impact knocked the rider unconscious, and authorities reported that he suffered a skull fracture and internal cranial hemorrhage. An update on his condition was not immediately provided.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor, and the San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division is investigating.
What A Lawyer Can Do For You
Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
