[02-27-2026] Kern County, CA – Man Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on Southbound I-5 Near Templin Highway

An investigation is underway for a deadly hit-and-run crash on southbound Interstate 5 near Templin Highway in Kern County, late Friday night, February 27, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers were called at around 11:20 p.m. to a report of an incident between a vehicle and a pedestrian south of Templin Highway. 

CHP officials said a man was standing outside his vehicle when he was struck by an unknown vehicle. 

Officers found the victim, identified as 22-year-old Alejandro C. of Altadena, deceased at the scene. The driver of the vehicle involved did not stop and remains unidentified. 

CHP is asking for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to contact the CHP Newhall Area Office at (661) 600-1600. The investigation is ongoing.
