[03-12-2026] Santa Clara County, CA – Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on I-280 Off-Ramp in San Jose

A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash on the Interstate 280 off-ramp in San Jose late Thursday night, March 12, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident was discovered after a report was received at about 10:20 p.m. of a man walking into traffic on the southbound I-280 through the 10th Street ramp.

Responding officers arrived at the location and found the man unresponsive with injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Authorities have not released his name pending formal identification and notification of next of kin by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.

Investigators confirmed that the driver involved in the collision fled the scene, and the crash is being investigated as a hit-and-run.
