A man was killed, and a woman critically injured in a high-speed crash in Grass Valley, Nevada County, on Monday night, April 6, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 10:20 p.m. when a 2022 Tesla Model S, driven by a 37-year-old man from Washington State, was traveling eastbound on Banner Lava Cap Road near Forest View Drive.
CHP reports suggest the driver may have been traveling too fast for a curve, causing the vehicle to slide off the road and crash into a large tree. The car caught fire, and firefighters took a long time to extinguish the flames.
The driver, whose legs were pinned under the dashboard, was pronounced dead at the scene. The female passenger was able to escape the vehicle but was found unconscious about 20 feet away. She was airlifted to Sutter Roseville Medical Center, where she underwent surgery for serious internal injuries and remains in critical condition.
Both occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. CHP is investigating whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the incident.
What A Lawyer Can Do For You
Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
