A 63-year-old man was killed, and another driver was injured in a four-vehicle crash on Highway 87 in San Jose on Sunday afternoon, April 19, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported around 3:15 p.m. on northbound Highway 87, south of Interstate 280.
Investigators said a 2003 Nissan Frontier collided with the rear of a 2021 Toyota Sienna, causing the Toyota to strike two additional vehicles.
Both the Nissan and Toyota drivers were transported to a hospital. Authorities said the Toyota driver later died from his injuries, while the Nissan driver sustained minor injuries. The two other vehicles involved in the crash suffered moderate damage.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. Officials stated that alcohol or drugs are not believed to be factors in the collision.
The incident remains under investigation.
