A three-vehicle collision caused by reckless driving led to significant damage and road closures at the intersection of East Florida Avenue and Laursen Street in Hemet on Monday afternoon, April 27, 2026.
According to the Hemet Police Department, the crash occurred around 4:29 p.m. and was caused by a black Corvette driving erratically before attempting a lane change and losing control.
The Corvette struck a Mini Cooper that was stopped at the intersection, pushing it into a water line and gas main cage, narrowly avoiding an adjacent building. The Corvette then sideswiped a white Toyota Highlander.
The Hemet Fire Department responded initially, suspecting that a vehicle had crashed into a building. Upon arrival, they found three damaged vehicles and requested additional medical assistance.
The driver of the Mini Cooper and a female occupant of the Toyota Highlander were transported by ambulance with injuries of unknown severity. The driver of the Corvette, reporting leg pain, was taken to a hospital via private vehicle.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
