[04-30-2026] Alameda County, CA – Driver Dies After Wrong-Way Crash on I-580 in Oakland

A driver was killed after crashing into two other vehicles on the westbound Interstate 580 in Oakland early Thursday morning, April 30, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 2:50 a.m. east of the Seminary Avenue exit.

The wrong-way driver struck one vehicle, which was clipped, and collided head-on with another vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle was taken to the hospital but is expected to survive.

Reports indicate there is significant front-end damage to the two vehicles involved, with a third vehicle also found facing the wrong way on the highway.

The incident remains under investigation.
