A man in a wheelchair was killed following a hit-and-run crash in Santa Rosa on Monday afternoon, May 11, 2026.
According to the Santa Rosa Police Department, officers responded around 2:47 p.m. to the incident at West College Avenue and Clover Drive.
Authorities stated that the victim was crossing southbound in a wheelchair within the west crosswalk when the eastbound traffic signal turned green.
Officials said that a lifted white GMC pickup truck began moving through the intersection and struck the man.
The driver and a female passenger reportedly exited the truck and approached the victim before leaving the scene eastbound on West College Avenue. Emergency responders later pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
Using surveillance footage and automated license plate reader technology, investigators identified the vehicle involved. Police later arrested 21-year-old Isreal S. of Santa Rosa on suspicion of felony hit-and-run resulting in death. The female passenger was not arrested.
Investigators are still determining whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing.
