A 63-year-old man was killed following a two-vehicle crash in Shingletown, Shasta County, on Saturday evening, May 9, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred shortly before 6 p.m. on Highway 44 west of Inwood Road.
Authorities stated that a 2018 Honda Accord traveling eastbound drifted across the center divider into the westbound lane. The driver attempted to return to the eastbound lane before the Honda was struck on the left side by a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck.
The driver of the Honda, who was the sole occupant, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead. Four occupants inside the Toyota Tacoma, identified as two Bay Area residents and two Redding residents, suffered minor to moderate injuries.
Officials said that alcohol and drugs are not believed to have been factors in the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing.
