[05-16-2026] Ventura County, CA – Passenger Seriously Injured in Head-On Crash on SR-1 North of Mugu Rock

A passenger suffered major injuries following a head-on collision in Ventura County on Saturday afternoon, May 16, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on southbound State Route 1 north of Mugu Rock.

Authorities stated that a 45-year-old Oxnard man was driving a black Honda Accord northbound with a 44-year-old Oxnard man in the front passenger seat when the Honda crossed into the southbound lanes. A gray Tesla Model Y driven by a 44-year-old Camarillo man was traveling southbound when the Honda collided with the front of the Tesla.

The passenger in the Honda sustained major injuries and was airlifted to Los Robles Regional Medical Center for treatment. Both drivers suffered minor injuries. The Tesla driver was evaluated at the scene, while the Honda driver was transported to St. John’s Hospital.

Officials said the Honda driver was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following an investigation at the scene.
