[05-31-2026] San Diego County, CA – Two Rescued After ATV Goes Off Cliff in Valley Center

Two people were rescued after an ATV went off a cliff in Valley Center, San Diego County, on Sunday night, May 31, 2026.

According to the San Pasqual Reservation Fire Department, firefighters responded around 10:45 p.m. to reports of the ATV incident.

Crews had to navigate darkness, thick vegetation, and a steep mountainside, clearing approximately 100 feet of brush to reach the victims.

One individual was treated on the mountainside and airlifted to a nearby hospital for medical care. The second victim was assisted down the mountain by the Rincon Fire Department’s Rapid Extrication Module Support (REMS) team to a waiting ambulance. The extent of injuries for both victims has not been released.

Authorities, including the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office and the California Highway Patrol, assisted with the late-night rescue. The ATV’s speed and the circumstances leading to the crash are under investigation.
