A motorcyclist was killed in a crash involving multiple vehicles on eastbound Interstate 80 just east of Norwood Avenue in North Sacramento on Tuesday morning, June 16, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly before 7:40 a.m. in stop-and-go traffic.
Authorities reported that the motorcyclist was lane-splitting when traffic came to a stop and was unable to stop in time, striking the rear of a vehicle.
The rider was ejected into the roadway and was subsequently struck by oncoming traffic. Emergency responders arrived and pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene.
Multiple lanes were blocked following the collision, and traffic delays extended through the morning commute before lanes were reopened around 9:15 a.m.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
