A woman was killed, and her passenger sustained injuries following a multi-vehicle collision on the Bay Bridge in Alameda County on Saturday morning, June 20, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded shortly after 4 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 80 near the Treasure Island off-ramp.
A black Kia sedan traveling in the far-left lane swerved onto the left shoulder and struck an unoccupied Caltrans worker vehicle parked on the shoulder during maintenance.
The female driver died at the scene and has not yet been identified. The passenger sustained severe injuries and was taken to a local hospital. A dog inside the vehicle was also injured and was turned over to Alameda County animal control officers for care.
Authorities have not yet determined whether alcohol or drugs were factors. Eastbound lanes were closed for several hours and reopened just before 8 a.m. The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
