A multi-vehicle crash involving five vehicles caused delays on southbound Interstate 5 near Encinitas Boulevard in San Diego County on Sunday morning, July 12, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision was reported around 10:45 a.m.
Authorities said three vehicles were involved in the primary crash in the center divider, with two additional vehicles also impacted.
Some of the vehicles included a white Ford Maverick, a white Audi, and a gray Ford Edge, which sustained significant damage and deployed airbags. The vehicles were moved to the shoulder and center divider to allow traffic to flow, though debris on the roadway required cleanup.
Tow trucks were requested to remove the damaged vehicles. No information on injuries was immediately released. CHP continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
